Listing Category: To SwapBelmont, Massachusetts, United StatesHi! I’m interested in trading for some Hoya Linearis (plant or cuttings are both fine). I have the following available to swap: – Unrooted Hope Peperomia cutting – Satin Pothos plant (on the smaller side, would be shipped bare root) – Unrooted variegated string of hearts cutting – Hoya Kerrii (one unrooted heart – looks really cute in soil, but most likely will not grow into a full fledged plant) – Pilea Peperomiodes plant (about 2″, would be shipped bare root) – Unrooted Scindapsus Pictus ‘Exotica’ cutting – Leaves from a pinkish succulent (some have started to grow little roots and tiny leaves) – Baby plantlets from a ‘Pink Butterflies’ Mother of Millions – Rooted golden pothos cutting – Rooted moonshine sansevieria cutting (has been taking forever to root, but the plant is really pretty) – Unrooted Hoya Tricolor cutting (last time I took a cutting, it took a while to root and lost its variegation – happy to try again though) – Thin sansevieria that would be able to be split up (I think it’s a ‘Stella’ – looks like a ‘Mikado’ except the leaves are slightly curved) Read more...

Listing Category: WantedWorcester, Massachusetts, United StatesHi everyone! I am a college student doing a project on sustainable use of green spaces by using native plants rather than just grass, and transforming spaces on campis! Right now it’s too cold to plant, so I’m in search of knowlege and on native plants (ideally edible) and where to get them when time comes to plant. Read more...

Listing Category: For FreeFramingham, Massachusetts, United StatesHello! I’ve potted up many Anise Hyssop plants that I’m eager to share. Anise Hyssop is a native, perennial, wildflower that bees love. According to the Rodale’s Encyclopedia of Organic Gardening [1969, pp. 522-523] one acre planted in Anise Hyssop can support *100 Honeybee Hives*. Furthermore these plants make beautiful purple and white flowers, and are very low maintenance. As such I’m delighted to share these wonderful Anise Hyssop plants, for free, with folks that may want to plant them, either for their own hives or to simply help provide pollinators with more food. Listing Category: To SwapHadley, Massachusetts, United StatesMaking cuttings of: multiple varieties of philodendron, Purple Hearts, multiple dracaena varieties. They’re at various points of rooting and pre-rooting (and various sizes but mostly quite small). The above plants are all very easy to grow and difficult to kill and I basically can produce infinite cuttings of them if you like. I’m also working on cuttings of 1 variety of spruce, money tree cuttings. Plus, I’ve just repotted a few truly tiny aloe bakeri. However, with the second group of plants, I can’t yet say for certain they will all persist. Interested in trading and I may have some other plants of greater interest to you. Personally, I’m primarily interested in plants that would make suitable indoor container plants. but I do bonsai, too, so I’m very interested in trees and shrubs of all sorts. I’ve wanted air plants for awhile. So, I’d be interested in that. I’d also be glad to pot any of these cuttings that turn out successful if you like, but I tend to use cheap recycled items as pots. So, be warned that is what you will receive as a container 😛 Read more...

Walpole, Massachusetts, United StatesHello gardeners and plant swappers. Happy Spring and welcome to the 2019 New England Plant Swap. The Swap is scheduled for June 1, 2019 at beautiful Adams Farm at 999 North Street in Walpole. Set up begins at 8 and there’ll be unlimited swapping between participants until approximately 9:30 when we begin the open swap in rounds (sometimes fondly called the plant grab). It’s an orderly, quasi controlled process, but things go FAST. So PLEASE arrive well before 9:30 for best availability. That being said, there are always many plants up for grabs for those who are just beginning with gardening and don’t have much to offer. We encourage swappers to bring many and BIG plants to the swap, and we give priority picks to those who do. The more you bring, the more you can take. Plants must be potted. Please no bare root plants. Also gardening books, tools and décor are also welcome and are often a big hit. There’s one caveat: if your hardware is not selected by another member, you must take it with you when you leave. While we are able to compost leftover plants, we have no means to dispose of inorganic items. The best swappers bring a cart or some way to schlepp plants to and from the swap. We sometimes have access to wagons, but access to them is limited. So pot up your successes and leftovers and join us at the red barn at Adams Farm for a morning of fun, stories and general garden nirvana. The barn is covered; so it goes on rain or shine. There’s plenty of free parking. The event is open to all and is there is no charge. Even the coffee is free and your leashed dogs are welcome. Over the years, the New England Plant Swap has evolved into a community of caring and sharing. It’s a morning of enjoying the plants that have thrived in Southern New England, meeting those who have helped make these plants thrive and are willing to share with others wanting to continue the tradition. We look forward to seeing you—and our friends—at the Swap. If you have any questions, please email us at info@newenglandplantswap.org Read more...
