NYCPlantSwap Transition To PlantSwap

Hi everyone!
My name is Luca, and a few years ago I started a small website at nycplantswap.org to give NYC residents a place to donate, recycle, and adopt plants.  It completely outgrew my expectations!  The community has been absolutely wonderful, and I can’t believe how much everyone has participated!

Some of you have made great suggestions about features that would improve the website.  Forums, map views, and an event calendar are just the tip of the iceberg.  I’ve spent a very long time trying to figure out the best way to implement those additions, and eventually I built this website to include all the extra features.

Our new website is like moving into a brand new, empty apartment...

I’m sure the transition will be a little bumpy.  I’m sorry about that… I did my best, but odds are I missed some things.  I hope you’ll bear with me, and give me any feedback you have about any glitches you find!

One other thing – This new website is a bit like moving into a new, completely different apartment.  I really need all your help to add things to it!  The old system we were using on nycplantswap.org was not compatible with map views for displaying the listings, so we switched to a different software for the listings here.  It’s better, but we’re rebuilding the listings database from scratch and we need your help to make it look a little less “empty”.

Please take a few moments to create a listing, start a conversation on the forums, create a group, invite some friends… whatever floats your fancy!

Most importantly, please let me know if you run into any issues, or if you have any ideas for how to make this even better.

Thanks, and happy swapping!
Luca
