Bristol Seed Swap 2020
February 9 @ 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM GMT
Join us on Sunday 9th February 2020 between 12pm-4pm at Trinity Centre, Old Market, Bristol, BS1 for what is going to be our BIGGEST Seed Swap event yet!
Due to popular demand, we have moved to a larger venue in 2020!
All seeds at the event are either kindly donated by companies or by individuals who have saved spare seeds. We have THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS of seeds for people to swap or exchange for a donation.
How does it work?
Bring along some seeds that you would like to donate to the table and in exchange for your donation, you can take some other seeds away with you from the table – ‘Seed Swap’
If you don’t have any seeds to donate, that is absolutely fine – we accept small cash donations to the Seed Swap Donation Pot and all funds go towards maintaining and keeping these events going.
Why Seed Swap?
Gaining seeds through one of our Seed Swap events is a much more cost effective way of adding to your collection of seeds, it is considerably cheaper than buying seeds commercially.
By people only taking what they need from the Seed Swap tables, it also cuts down on waste. Even seeds have wastage, as any budding gardener is likely aware.
Swapping seeds across towns and cities also promotes diversity amongst crops, the heritage of plant species and allows for openly pollinated seeds that can be saved and grown year after year!
Swapping seeds with other people also keeps seed soverignty in the hands of the people – help to keep our cultural heritage alive and embrace developing seeds that suit your land.
What Can I Expect At This Event?
As well as thousands of seed packets to browse through, you can expect to find some stalls from our partners and supporters, ample cake and hot drinks, speakers, information and guidance and some stalls with plant and horticulture items you can carry away with you.
Seed swapping! – Bring seeds to add to the trays (or just give a cash donation) and select those seeds you need to grow in your garden or allotment. Our friendly volunteers will be on hand to give you a warm welcome and answer your questions.
Cafe – Come and eat delicious homebaked cakes, savoury snacks, drink tea, coffee or squash. The proceeds from the cafe fund future activity, so you’re not being greedy by having two pieces of cake, you’re being selfless

Stalls – find out about local projects, growers, green spaces, eco activity and more from all over the city
